DEFEETING
FEAR
Do Hard Things on Purpose — So You're Ready When Hard Things Choose You.
Fear is something we all face. The question isn't whether we'll experience it, it's how we'll respond when it shows up. Through his powerful story of losing both legs, rebuilding his life, and pushing himself to accomplish things he once thought impossible, Sidney Smith challenges audiences to stop letting fear dictate their decisions. His message is simple: Do hard things on purpose.
See Sidney's Message in Action
Sidney's keynote isn't just a story about overcoming adversity. It's a challenge to rethink how we respond to fear, difficulty, and uncertainty.

THE BIG IDEA
What Does It Mean to "De-Feet" Fear?
Fear can stop us from taking risks, pursuing opportunities, changing direction, or becoming the person we're capable of becoming.
Sidney's approach is different.
Rather than waiting for adversity to force us to become stronger, we can choose challenges that make us stronger before we need that strength.
That's the idea behind De-Feeting Fear.
Sidney encourages audiences to intentionally do difficult things—to step outside their comfort zones, face uncertainty, and develop the mental toughness necessary to handle whatever comes next.
Because you may not get to choose the hard things life gives you.
But you can choose how prepared you are when they arrive.
SIDNEY'S STORY
Redefining What's Possible
Sidney's message isn't based on theory.
It's based on experience. After losing both of his legs to disease, Sidney was forced to confront a future filled with uncertainty, fear, and challenges he never expected.
But his story didn't end there.
He chose to move forward. He challenged himself physically and mentally, eventually accomplishing extraordinary feats—including completing an Ironman and climbing mountains using prosthetic legs. His current website also highlights these accomplishments as part of his keynote story.
What began as a fight to overcome his own circumstances became a mission to help others overcome theirs.
